Professor emeritus Ivo \u0160kari\u0107 was born in 1933 in Postira on the island of Bra\u010d, Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was the principal researcher in many phonetic research projects, chair organizer and founder of several scientific conferences. He was full time professor at the Department of Phonetics, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Zagreb, as well as a lecturer at other departments and faculties in Croatia (Department of Linguistics, Department of Information Sciences, Academy of Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University Center for Croatian Studies), and worldwide (Universities of Lund, Malmo, Sorbonne).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 1965 he educated many professional radio and television speakers, anchors and hosts and worked as a consultant on auditions for new professional speakers and journalists. He was one of the founders of Speech and language department on Croatian Radio Television (established in 1991). Following his expertise and based on his scholarly work he founded The School of Rhetoric for gifted and talented high school students, founded in 1992, in which he biannually educated numerous generations of students. After his death the school was renamed to the School of Rhetoric Ivo \u0160kari\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor Ivo \u0160kari\u0107 published more than 150 scientific papers in phonetic sciences, covering various fields and disciplines \u2013 orthoepy, rehabilitation of speech and language and rhetoric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wrote three books in the field of rhetoric: In Search of the Lost Speech, The Fundamentals of Public Speaking, and Argumentation -which was published posthumously in 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
